The Udoka Estate secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Awka was thrown into a joyous mood on Valentine’s Day of 2021 when Valentine Ozigbo, a business mogul, fulfilled his promise to donate eight vehicles to the executive committee of the party.

Recall that on January 16, 2021, Ozigbo, the frontrunner in the Anambra 2021 governorship election under the PDP, pledged to donate the vehicles to key party officials at a high-powered meeting with the Anambra State Executive Committee (EXCO) and Local Government leaders. The donation is the first of its kind in the history of PDP Anambra chapter.

During the brief event, Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, addressed the state’s PDP leaders saying, “I am thrilled to be with you once more and, I am even more delighted that this event is coincidently being held on a special day, St. Valentine’s day, a day of global celebration in memory of the power and importance of love.”

“Before proceeding further let me appeal to us all, in the spirit of the love in the air, to always show love to one another even to those who we consider adversaries and enemies.

“Love heals all wounds, opens all doors, closes all gaps and settles all disputes. No leader can lead well without love,” he admonished.

On the donation of the vehicles, Ozigbo said the gesture was an expression of his commitment to the PDP and its success in the governorship polls scheduled for November 6, 2021.

According to the respected business leader, the decision to donate cars to the party was to ease the job of party executives and challenge others within the party to seek ways to forge a solid front as the election draws near.

“We are dealing with an incumbent government. We need enormous capacity. So I’m doing this to send the right signal to other aspirants because if we are to be victorious, we have to approach the elections as a united family,” Ozigbo remarked.

“Let me remind us that these vehicles are neither personal gifts nor for private usage. They are for the offices that the users occupy to the extent that they are meant for official use, specifically for activities that will ensure and enhance our party’s preparation for the November election.

“This is not a one-off gesture. Since I began this project, I have recorded many firsts. When the COVID-19 pandemic began last year, I was the first to distribute palliatives to all local government areas in the state. I am the first aspirant to go on a state-wide tour,” he added.

In his remarks, Chairman of the PDP in Anambra State, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu thanked Mr Ozigbo for fulfilling his promise to the party.

ā€œWe have lost ground on our contemporaries in terms of sustainable development goals and the time for restoration is now,ā€ Ozigbo declared.

I have rich experience in the power sector, and we all know that power is key to the industrialization of Anambra State.

ā€œI have experience in hospitality, banking, finance, administration, sports, entertainment, agriculture, oil and gas, and power. All these are key sectors that cumulatively reflect what we lack as a people.

Valentine Ozigbo, a Nigerian business mogul and philanthropist, has sympathized with those affected by a fire outbreak that was recorded at Otolo Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to eyewitness reports, the fire started as a result an unguarded motorcycle plug that ignited after coming close to a diesel tanker that was offloading its content at the petrol station.

Speaking from the scene of the unfortunate incident at Great V-Max Oil and Gas Filling Station along Nnobi Road, Nnewi, Ozigbo expressed sadness at the level of destruction recorded.

While thanking God for the fact that no life was lost, he called for a higher safety awareness and consciousness as he thanked God that nobody was hurt in the fire.

“We need a better, safer, and healthier Anambra.”

We need to educate our people more, especially drivers of all kinds of vehicles on the need to adopt safety measures in petrol stations and on the road,ā€ the respected business leader added.

VALENTINE OZIGBO CONDEMNS AGULERI/UMULERI COMMUNAL CLASH, CALLS FOR LASTING SOLUTION TO AGE-LONG CRISIS

Valentine Ozigbo, a Nigerian business mogul and philanthropist, has condemned the recent communal clashes between the neighbouring towns of Aguleri and Umuleri in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“Last year, I travelled through the 21 local government areas of Anambra State, preaching on the importance of peace to our collective progress and prosperity. To this effect we ran a public interest campaign to send the message home to our people,” Ozigbo said.

“In December 2020, my foundation, held an event, Walk4Peace still to drive home this important message of peace and love.

“It is unfortunate that the dispute between Aguleri and Umuleri has been allowed to degenerate to this worrisome level. Violence never solves the problem; it only makes things worse.

“As Ndi Anambra, a hurt to one of us is hurt to all of us. What we need now is proactive leadership at the state level to intervene by deescalating the conflict and deploying solutions to bring lasting peace to our brothers and sisters in these communities.

“Community conflict in Anambra, and indeed Nigeria, should be made to be a thing of the past. Progressive societies have moved beyond conflict into co-operation. Ndi Anambra must evolve. We should be coming together to leverage our collective strength for progress,” Ozigbo admonished.

According to reports, disputes over farmland triggered this latest spate of violence between the Aguleri and Umuleri.

Both farming communities have had a long history of clashes, with the recent and most bloody, taking place in 1999, lasting for about three months and over 350 people were killed.
